End of Support for Windows XP Service Pack 2

Microsoft has issued a reminder that they will stop providing security updates for Windows 2000 and Windows XP Service Pack 2 on July 13, 2010. They recommend all users who have not upgraded should load Windows XP Service Pack 3, for which support will end in two years on April 8, 2014.  This affects all versions of XP (except for Embedded): Home Edition, Media Centre Edition 2002, Media Centre Edition 2004, Media Centre Edition 2005, Professional, Tablet PC Edition, and Tablet PC Edition 2005.

There is no Windows XP SP3 for the 64-bit version. If any users are running on a 64-bit machine, the Windows XP SP2 will continue to be supported and receive updates until April 8, 2014.

Also Support for Windows Vista Release to Manufacturing (RTM) ended on April 13, 2010. If you are running Vista with SP2, support will continue for now.

Microsoft are recommending users move to Windows 7 and moving off of these platforms as the best option to consider.
