How to Protect your PC/Laptop against Virus and Spam Threats
Basic Steps to protect against these types of attacks:

* Windows Updates are a must! Lots of ways for virus’s to get in and infect & re-infect if you’re not fully up-to-date. So when you see the Windows Update Shield, don't put it off!
* Good up-to-date anti-Virus software is a MUST. It doesn’t have to be expensive product but the definitions have to be updated regularly. Then just know how to check if they are updated.
* To check the current Threat Level go to http://uk.trendmicro.com
* For a great FREE online Virus, Trojan and Malware Scanner use "House Call" from http://housecall.trendmicro.com/uk/
* Use a Malware Scanner regularly, some scanners are attached to your Anti-Virus product but you can get good FREE versions such as MalWareBytes from http://www.malwarebytes.org

Awareness of Email’s and attachments. Do’s and Don’ts, general advice

* If you’re unsure about an attachment and the sender is not one you trust, do not open it.
* If you need to check an attachment you think is from a reliable source, save it to your desktop and open it there as the anti virus protection should scan it before it opens. If the scan gives a warning then do not open the attachment.
* If in doubt do not open the attachment and contact our helpdesk helpdesk@solve.uk.com (01392 875757)
