Gadget Security

NIO is another security system that uses Bluetooth technology to keep valuables safe - software links electronic tags to mobile phones and PDAs.

They have devised a gadget that gives off an alarm if the tagged item goes out of range from your receiver.

The tag can be linked to any valuable item including your car keys or a handbag.

NIO say that it also helps prevent you from leaving your items behind as you will hear the alarm if you stray too far from the item.

Users can adjust the software in their handset to select a low or high-risk level for each tag - this determines how far it is allowed to stray before the alarm goes off.

From the www.bluenio.com web site, it is retailing at £39.95
